Drift Start Point and Strategy

After many hours of meticulous deliberation (OK, fine, I made it up today), I have decided to begin at the railroad tracks on Drexel Ave. My start point is indicated by the little blue bubble. (Did I mention I liked bubbles?) My strategy? I shall go wherever the wind takes me.

Literally.

As you can see, I will have quite a variety of potential pathways to take-- the most obvious ones being the creek, the railroad tracks, and the bike path. There are several smaller trails (such as ATV/mountain bike trails) that aren't as visible on the map. Many of these trails meander around, intersect with each other, and result in dead ends. So, whenever I come to a fork or an intersection, I'll follow the wind direction as closely as possible without going off the trail.

For example, in this picture below, although the wind isn't blowing perfectly alongside the left path, it does lean more into that general direction; so that will be my next step.

In the case of dead ends, I simply double back to the last fork/intersection and try again.

A few restrictions:
  • Clearly-defined trails only; no deer trails, and definitely no crashing through underbrush with delicate, expensive sound/video recording equipment
  • Avoid water for same reason
  • Private property is off-limits
  • Drexel is to be avoided (because of traffic)
  • So is anywhere with creepy-looking people or big, growling dogs or anything else that could kill, maim, or rob me
Other than that, it's all good.
